St. John Neumann Day Away continues its regular activities program on Thursdays throughout the year.  Several of our volunteers are planning summer travel, family vacations, and a few will be taking medical leave while they recover from elective surgeries.

We are seeking 3 to 4 caring people to serve as 1:1 Companions to join our all -volunteer staff to provide – in a group setting -- a safe, loving and stimulating environment for our Day Away participants, who are living with the earlier stages of dementia.  

A larger volunteer staff enables a more flexible schedule for those who can assist every other week or once a month.

The best volunteers are friendly listeners, who enjoy being with the elderly and learning about all that’s meaningful in their lives. If you wish to learn more about the volunteer roles and orientation training, please email Kathy.

According to the U.S. Veterans Administration, about 40 New Hampshire veterans commit suicide every year, and 22 veterans take their own lives every day nationwide. Many veterans struggle to recover from battlefield trauma or experience emotional difficulties while recovering from combat injuries. Many are local family members, friends, and neighbors.
 

The St. John Neumann Knights of Columbus are participating in the annual Run to Home Base held at Fenway Park, on July 26, 2025. Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Mass General Hospital program, is a national nonprofit dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen – all at no cost to them.

Are you interested in joining a catholic Co-Op group.  A local group has a large space at the Parish of the Resurrection in Nashua that they utilize on Wednesdays. They offer history, science and afternoon enrichment classes of our choosing. From one of the mom's, "It’s been such a blessing to round out our homeschooling and I would love to share more about it with anyone who is interested."

We received a call from a parishioner at St. Pat's in Nashua.  She no longer is able to drive and is looking for someone who would be willing to help her with transportation to appointments and the grocery store.  She is on a waiting list with Catholic Charities, but it is taking some time.  If you have the time and are willing to help out, contact Teri in the office and she will put you in touch.

We thank all who made their gift to the New Hampshire Catholic Appeal: Future of our Faith II so far.  We have raised almost $30,000!  Please consider helping us reach our goal of $47,000.
